SUSTAINABILITY

One of Threads of Adventure's main principles is creating clothing which doesn't negatively impact the environment. We know that we can't be perfect, but we aim to minimise any impacts.

It's easy to forget, but the clothing industry has a big impact on the environment, with around 10% of global greenhouse gases being caused by the fashion industry.

Organic Cotton

After extensive research, we decided to use organic cotton for our t-shirts. They have a number of benefits compared to non-organic cotton:

  1. No pesticide or fertilisers - allows for safer working conditions and healthier soils

  2. Lower impact on climate change - producing less than half the amount of CO2 compared to non-organic cotton

  3. Less water use - organic cotton uses up to 91% less water than non-organic

Sustainability is about "meet[ing] the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs"

Packaging

Our packing is all plastic free, with t-shirts being sent out in recyclable cardboard boxes. We carefully package t-shirts in recyable tissue paper to protect them whilst in transit (we think they also look nicer this way, and perfect to give to someone as a gift!).

Printing

We hand-print all of our t-shirts ourselves, and only use waterbased inks. Conventional inks are plastic based, and therefore less environmentally friendly.
